Microsoft Urged To Address Skype Privacy Concerns

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 2:48 PM EST) -- A coalition of privacy advocates on Thursday released an open letter to Skype and parent company Microsoft Corp. urging greater transparency about the confidentiality of Skype conversations and the amount of access government entities may have to data and communications.

The letter, signed by more than 40 media and Internet activist organizations and dozens of individuals, called on the company to release periodic transparency reports such as those regularly issued by Google Inc., Twitter Inc. and others.
