US Can't Dodge Challenge To Deferred Deportation Plan

Law360, Houston (January 25, 2013, 8:28 PM EST) -- A Texas federal court Thursday ruled that a group of immigration officers can challenge an Obama administration directive that prohibits them from subjecting certain undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as children to deportation proceedings.

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor found that the court could consider the complaint of 10 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers who said they are being forced to violate federal law as a condition of their employment, partially denying the government’s motion to dismiss the suit.
