LCD Makers Settle Long-Running Patent Row

Law360, New York (November 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Electronics maker LG.Philips LCD has announced a settlement with its Taiwanese rival Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. in a deal that lays to rest the pair's protracted patent dispute over liquid crystal display technology.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the South Korean company said the agreement would resolve two pending patent lawsuits between the competitors and would see the companies sharing patented technology. Chunghwa has also agreed to pay an undisclosed sum in compensation, LG.Philips said.
