Fla. Therapist Gets 4 Years For $205M Medicare Fraud

Law360, Miami (January 28, 2013, 8:20 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday sentenced a Miami-area mental health counselor to four years in prison and ordered her to pay more than $72 million in restitution for her role in a $205 million Medicare fraud conspiracy.

In a hearing in Miami, U.S. District Judge Patricia A. Seitz commended Nichole Eckert for accepting responsibility and helping others but punished her for participating in a crime she said "sucks the life out of our community."
