App Maker Broke Privacy Laws, Say Canada, Netherlands

Law360, New York (January 28, 2013, 3:10 PM EST) -- In a first-of-its-kind joint report, Canadian and Dutch privacy watchdogs on Monday said California-based mobile app developer WhatsApp Inc. has violated their privacy laws through its retention and disclosure of personal data, including the capture of nonusers’ phone numbers.
