Retaliation, Race Bias Top EEOC Complaints In 2012

Law360, New York (January 28, 2013, 5:33 PM EST) -- Claims of retaliation, racial discrimination and sex bias made up a lion's share of nearly 100,000 complaints lodged with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2012, the agency said Monday.

In fiscal year 2012, the EEOC took in more than 37,800 complaints containing retaliation claims, while the agency received 33,512 claims of racial discrimination and 30,356 claims of sex bias, which included allegations of sexual harassment or pregnancy discrimination, according to a statement announcing the release of the agency's year-end statistics.
