US Transportation Chief LaHood Announces Departure

Law360, New York (January 29, 2013, 5:41 PM EST) -- U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on Tuesday became the latest member of President Barack Obama's cabinet to announce that he would step down, though he said he will continue to lead the Department of Transportation until his successor is confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

LaHood, one of two Republicans to serve in Obama's cabinet and the administration's point man for pushing transportation initiatives such as high-speed rail development and nationwide infrastructure repair, told DOT employees Tuesday that he had decided not to serve a second term....
