NJ Sens. Seek Protections For Politically Active Workers

Law360, New York (January 29, 2013, 4:29 PM EST) -- New Jersey state Sens. Ronald L. Rice and Sandra B. Cunningham introduced legislation Monday giving politically active employees the right to sue their employers if they believe they’ve been discriminated or retaliated against for their political leanings or activities during nonwork hours.

The bill, S2488, bars employers from taking any retaliatory action against an employee because the employee runs for, or campaigns as a candidate for public office, or engages in political activities for a candidate or political organization during nonwork hours. Provisions of the measure...
