NY 1st State To Tackle Hospital Standards In Treating Sepsis

Law360, New York (January 29, 2013, 5:35 PM EST) -- The New York State Department of Health will issue first-of-their-kind regulations requiring hospitals to adopt certain protocols to detect and treat sepsis in patients, the governor announced Tuesday in a move supported by the state's hospitals.

Under the regulations, hospitals will be required to screen patients for sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock, and to adopt processes for early detection of those conditions, according to a statement by Gov.
