Ravelston Sentenced In Conrad Black Scandal

Law360, New York (November 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Ravelston Corp., the bankrupt Canadian holding company once controlled by former media baron Lord Conrad Black, has been ordered to pay a $7 million fine and $6 million in restitution.

Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office for the Northern District of Illinois, confirmed the details of the sentencing hearing held before U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve Wednesday, but declined further comment.

The company entered a guilty plea in March to one count of fraud and agreed to pay the $7 million fine....
