White House Begins Review Of EPA Fuel Standards

Law360, New York (January 30, 2013, 7:40 PM EST) -- The White House late Tuesday took up a long-awaited review of automobile pollution standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, bringing the regulations a step closer to becoming final.

The so-called Tier 3 emission and fuel standards are part of the EPA’s program to reduce emissions and boost fuel efficiency in passenger vehicles. The agency has gradually tightened the regulations since first issuing them in the 1990s. The current Tier 2 standards were adopted in 2000.
