Symbol Once Again Takes On Rival In Dispute Over Barcode Patents

Law360 (September 26, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Only weeks after winning a $12 million arbitration award, Symbol Technologies is once again suing its barcode technology rival for patent infringement.

Symbol sued Metrologic Instruments in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas this month for allegedly infringing five out of 30 of its patents for barcode scanning technology.

The complaint accuses Metrologic of willful infringement and seeks preliminary and permanent injunctions, as well as unspecified damages.
