ConAgra Escapes Suit Over Hebrew National Kosher Claims

Law360, Los Angeles (January 31, 2013, 10:32 PM EST) -- A Minnesota federal judge on Thursday tossed a putative class action claiming ConAgra Foods Inc. deceived consumers by marketing its Hebrew National meat products as kosher, finding the court was constitutionally barred from deciding matters with a religious component.

U.S. District Judge Donovan W. Frank granted ConAgra’s motion to dismiss the class action, agreeing with its argument that the court lacked subject matter jurisdiction to rule on the case.
