DePuy Hip Failure Caused By Metal Toxins, Jury Told

Law360, Los Angeles (February 1, 2013, 6:06 PM EST) -- A retired prison guard's DePuy Inc. hip replacement failed because of toxins emitted from the metal implant, not because of the plaintiff's other medical problems, a toxicologist testified Friday in a bellwether case accusing the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary of selling replacement hips with excessive failure rates.
