Sanofi, BMS Sued By W.Va. AG Over Plavix Marketing

Law360, New York (February 4, 2013, 4:09 PM EST) -- West Virginia's attorney general sued Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Sanofi-Aventis U.S. LLC in federal court Friday over their allegedly deceptive marketing of the blood-thinner Plavix, days after a West Virginia federal judge dismissed a similar suit brought by two employee health plans.

The state said that it had been forced to overpay for a drug that wasn't necessary because the drug companies had falsely and deceptively marketed the drug as being superior to aspirin for certain treatments.
