DOL Rules On Health Care Pools Poised To Take Effect

Law360, New York (February 5, 2013, 4:26 PM EST) -- The Office of Management and Budget said Friday that it is in the final review stage of a pair of U.S. Department of Labor regulations designed to protect workers of multiple employers that pool their health care contributions in a benefits plan for employees.

The rules target Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements, which are used to offer health coverage to employees of two or more employers or self-employed individuals, and are usually marketed to small businesses as a low-cost alternative to traditional health insurance plans, according to...
