Jenner & Block Sued By NPE Over 'Unconscionable' Contract

Law360, Dallas (February 4, 2013, 4:12 PM EST) -- A nonpracticing patent holding company sued Jenner & Block LLP in Texas state court last week to vacate an arbitration award for $4.4 million in legal fees, saying the firm forfeited its right to the fees when it quit the case and ended a contingency agreement.

Parallel Networks LLC, formerly known as epicRealm Licensing LP, says in a Jan. 29 suit the award is based on an “unenforceable and unconscionable” termination provision in the firm’s representation agreement that provides if Jenner & Block quit the case,...
