NJ Sen. Pulls Fracking-Stay Bill To Pursue Permanent Ban

Law360, New York (February 4, 2013, 6:51 PM EST) -- A New Jersey lawmaker on Monday shelved a bill designed to temporarily ban hydraulic fracturing in the state while he redoubles his efforts to have the natural gas exploration technique permanently banned in the state.

Democratic Sen. Robert Gordon's S247 would have placed a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing in the state pending the release of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency study to determine the practice's effect on the drinking water supply.
