Pilgrim's Pride Monopolizes Farms, Wages: Farmers

Law360 (November 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Forty one families who operate chicken farms for Pilgrim's Pride Corp. have sued the chicken producer and its owner for allegedly using its control of the farms to offer substandard wages.

The families filed the suit on Thursday in a Texas federal court, claiming that Pilgrim's Pride and its chief executive, Lonnie “Bo” Pilgrim, implemented a system in which insiders, such as the CEO, are given preferential treatment in the supplies and pay that they receive at the expense of the plaintiffs.
