Texas Bill Would Start Complaint Clock At Each Paycheck

Law360, Dallas (February 5, 2013, 10:26 PM EST) -- A Texas lawmaker on Tuesday proposed changes to the state’s anti-discrimination laws that would classify each paycheck based on a discriminatory pay scheme as a new violation of law, restarting the clock for employee complaints, much as the federal Lilly Ledbetter Act does.

H.B. 950, proposed by Rep. Senfronia Thompson, D-Houston, would also allow an employee to recover back pay for up to two years before the filing of a complaint, if the employee had been paid under discriminatory practices similar or related to the one...
