Texas Rep. Backs Medicaid Expansion, Insurance Exchange

Law360, Houston (February 7, 2013, 5:15 PM EST) -- A Texas state lawmaker on Wednesday proposed legislation that would extend public health benefits to more than a million uninsured Texas residents and establish a statewide health insurance marketplace as required by the Affordable Care Act.

Rep. Eric Johnson, D-Dallas, filed three bills that seek to create a federally mandated insurance exchange and take advantage of ACA provisions for expanding Medicaid to some 1.5 million Texans.
