Trial Date Set In Bextra, Celebrex Case

Law360, New York (December 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has set a spring date for the first product liability trials over Pfizer Inc.'s controversial anti-inflammatory drugs, Bextra and Celebrex.

San Francisco District Judge Charles Breyer issued his scheduling order Friday after the parties agreed on the selection of plaintiffs for the initial two trials in the multidistrict litigation.

The judge ordered fact depositions to commence immediately and set Jan. 28, 2008 as the cut-off date for discovery. The trials are slated to begin on May 5.
