Fla. Bill Would Speed Up Planning Changes For Cities

Law360, Miami (February 12, 2013, 9:22 PM EST) -- Some of Florida's most developed areas may soon be able to make quicker changes to their comprehensive plans — a plus for developers — under a trial program just proposed in the state Senate.

The pilot program would implement an alternative process for comprehensive plan amendments for Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa and Hialeah, as well as Pinellas and Broward counties. Sen. Wilton Simpson, a New Port Richey Republican who chairs the Senate Community Affairs Committee, filed the bill, S.B. 786, on Monday.
