Senate Dems Press Obama To Ban Gay Bias By Contractors

Law360, Wilmington (February 14, 2013, 8:42 PM EST) -- Dozens of Democratic senators on Thursday sent a letter urging President Barack Obama to issue an executive order barring federal contractors from discriminating against gay people, calling it a “critical step” while broader legislation is in the works.

The letter — signed by a majority of Senate Democrats, including Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. — called on the president to expand on a 1965 executive order prohibiting discrimination by federal contractors based on race or religion to include sexual orientation and gender identity....
