Court Breathes New Life Into R.J. Reynolds Suit

Law360 (December 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Breaking with tradition, the Minnesota Court of Appeals has given a second wind to a potential class action brought by “light” cigarette smokers against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. over the tobacco giant's alleged deceptive marketing practices.

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Court of Appeals opted to revive the suit filed by Michael S. Dahl and David Huber, which had been previously tossed out by the Hennepin County District Court on the grounds that federal law prevented the men from bringing their claims in state court.
