Tiffany Hits Costco With Trademark Suit Over Discount Rings

Law360, New York (February 14, 2013, 9:08 PM EST) -- Tiffany & Co. hit Costco Wholesale Corp. with a trademark infringement suit in New York federal court Thursday, alleging the discount bulk retailer ripped off its high-end name by selling unauthorized Tiffany-branded engagement rings at retail outlets.

Tiffany said  an internal investigation had revealed Costco uses the Tiffany brand name at jewelry counters to market its diamond engagement rings in retail sites throughout the United States.
