HHS Blasts Domino's Contraception Reprieve Request

Law360, Washington (February 15, 2013, 2:24 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday slammed efforts brought by the founder of Domino's Pizza to thwart the Affordable Care Act contraception mandate, claiming if the arguments hold up in court, they could challenge myriad other employment laws.

While Domino's Farm Corp. has asked the Michigan federal court to grant a preliminary injunction exempting it from the contraception order, the federal government maintained that a corporation cannot exercise a religion, and the mandate will not infringe on owners' personal First Amendment rights....
