Court Rules Union Can Represent Exelon Retirees

Law360, New York (December 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A court ruled on Monday that Exelon Corp.'s collective bargaining agreement with the union representing its workers, Local 15, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, allows the union to represent retirees in arbitration against the company.

“They're disappointed by the judge's ruling, and they're considering all of their options, including appeal,” Brian Gold, an attorney for Exelon, said of his client.

The dispute began when Exelon announced that it would unilaterally change health benefits for its retirees, increasing many retirees' contributions to their health plans.
