Texas Lawmakers Deny Request To Raise Judges' Pay

Law360, Dallas (February 20, 2013, 8:26 PM EST) -- The Texas House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday declined requests from Texas courts to raise judges' salaries and add more staff, and it gave the state’s appellate courts about a third of the additional funding they requested.

The committee voted to allocate about $31.8 million to the state’s courts and court administrator on top of funding set out in the state’s main budget bill, adopting recommendations set out by the Legislative Budget Board.
