Law360, New York (February 19, 2013, 3:20 PM EST) -- Japanese medical equipment company Terumo Corp. hit Vascular Solutions Inc. and Lepu Medical Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd. with a patent infringement suit Thursday in New Jersey federal court alleging the duo’s device to aid catheterization is a “cheap knockoff” of its TR Band.
Terumo claims the R-Band device manufactured by Lepu and distributed by Vascular Solutions infringes U.S. Patent No. 7,498,477, violates the TR Band’s trademark and is stealing Terumo’s business for the device, which is meant to stop bleeding after a catheterization procedure.
