Supreme Court Refuses To Hear $7.4M Ford Defect Appeal

Law360, New York (February 19, 2013, 3:38 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear a Texas man’s claim that a state appeals court wrongly reversed a $7.4 million verdict against Ford Motor Co. over alleged Explorer design defects he said caused an accident and his wife’s death.

James Wiles, in his petition for writ of certiorari, had argued that the Texas appeals court violated the Seventh and 14th  amendments by reweighing evidence introduced at trial and reinterpreting it in the light “least favorable to the verdict.”
