NJ, Occidental Agree To $750K PVC Enviro Settlement

Law360, New York (February 20, 2013, 5:55 PM EST) -- Occidental Chemical Corp. has agreed to pay $750,000 to settle a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection lawsuit seeking reimbursement for the state's alleged cleanup costs in clearing chemical contamination from Occidental's former PVC facility, the agency said Tuesday.

The DEP said the proposed consent judgment is not an admission by Occidental of any wrongdoing or liability, and that the company denies the DEP's alleged cleanup and removal costs for the site. The agency also said the proposed settlement does not prevent the DEP from suing...
