DePuy Reps Didn't Report Hip Implant Complaints, Jury Hears

Law360, Los Angeles (February 19, 2013, 9:55 PM EST) -- DePuy Inc.'s sales representatives didn't tell the company that its ASR XL hip implants were failing at elevated rates, despite complaints from surgeons, a complaints manager for the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary testified via videotape Tuesday in the trial over the metal-on-metal implant.

Paul Arnott, DePuy's complaints and vigilance manager, testified that the company “would expect” its sales reps to file formal complaints about the failure rate of the ASR XL implant, which DePuy voluntarily recalled in August 2010.
