Complete Genomics Says Its Probes Differ From Illumina's

Law360, San Francisco (February 20, 2013, 4:06 PM EST) -- Complete Genomics Inc. urged a California federal judge on Wednesday to rule that its genome-testing kits do not violate Illumina Inc.'s patents, arguing that it has produced enough evidence that its gene probes are different from what Illumina invented.

Complete Genomics attorney Marisa Williams argued that the company's gene-sequencing kits don't violate portions of Illumina's U.S. Patent No. 6,306,597 because the kits don't use the kinds of probes that the patent protects.
