Ex-New Orleans Mayor Denies Corruption Charges

Law360, New York (February 20, 2013, 8:52 PM EST) -- Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin pled not guilty Wednesday to a 21-count public corruption indictment that alleges he awarded a host of city contracts to favored business partners in return for more than $200,000 in bribes and various gifts.

At Nagin's first court appearance since a grand jury returned the indictment Jan. 18, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan read each count and asked him to enter a plea. He replied “not guilty” 21 times while accompanied by his lawyer, Robert Jenkins.
