El Paso Wins Appeal Over Strip Club Ordinance

Law360, Dallas (February 21, 2013, 7:54 PM EST) -- A Texas appeals court on Wednesday said an El Paso ordinance governing strip clubs meets constitutional muster and supports the city’s goal of promoting public health and safety.

The court said the city’s concerns about prostitution, related crime and other negative effects surrounding the businesses were enough to support the law, which limited strip club hours, banned nudity and mandated installation of overhead lighting, among other restrictions.
