DePuy's Metal Hip Implant Wasn't Poisonous, Expert Says

Law360, Los Angeles (February 21, 2013, 4:43 PM EST) -- A toxicology expert testifying for DePuy Inc. in the first such product liability trial over the company's ASR XL hip implant told a California jury Thursday that a retired prison guard suing DePuy was "absolutely" not poisoned by metal shavings from the implant.

Dennis Paustenbach testified that Loren Kransky was not poisoned by his ASR XL, which was replaced last year, because the levels of the chemicals cobalt and chromium were not at levels in his body that would be considered toxic.
