NY Probes 3 Insurers Over Sandy Claims Handling

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 4:12 PM EST) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday that officials were investigating three insurance carriers over the way they handled claims from Superstorm Sandy, after receiving an outpour of consumer complaints about "unacceptable" practices by the trio.

The New York Department of Financial Services is following up complaints that Narragansett Bay Insurance Co., Tower Insurance Co. and Kingstone Insurance Co. did not promptly send adjusters to investigate Sandy claims, quickly process claims or make company representatives readily available to homeowners.
