Nokia Says InterDigital Using ITC To Force Global License

Law360, New York (February 22, 2013, 8:36 PM EST) -- Nokia Corp. and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. told the U.S. International Trade Commission on Thursday that InterDigital Inc.'s suit alleging that they infringe standard-essential wireless patents is an attempt to force them to take a worldwide license that will harm competition and consumers.

The ITC agreed to investigate InterDigital's complaint in January, but Nokia said that the suit is an attempt to "extort unreasonably high royalties" from wireless device makers and is not in the public interest.
