BP May Face Fresh Charges Over Alaska Spills

Law360, New York (December 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Weeks after agreeing to pay $20 million to settle criminal charges over oil spills in America's largest national oil field, BP PLC may face new legal action from Alaska officials, who are reportedly set to pursue their own civil case against the British oil giant.

Alaska state officials are considering launching a civil lawsuit seeking damages for lost revenue and damage to state lands resulting from the spill, Dow Jones reported Thursday, citing documents from the state Department of Law.
