Fla. County Sends Light Rail Tax Question To Voters

Law360, Miami (February 26, 2013, 6:50 PM EST) -- The board of commissioners for Pinellas County, Fla., voted Tuesday to send the question of a so-called one-penny sales tax, aimed at funding a $1.5 billion light rail project that would connect Clearwater and St. Petersburg, to voters in a referendum on the November 2014 ballot.

Following a lengthy meeting that included public comments from both supporters and detractors of the project, the commissioners voted 5-1 to allow the referendum.
