Japan Opens Further Review Of ASML's €2B Cymer Buy

Law360, New York (February 28, 2013, 4:30 PM EST) -- Japan's antitrust regulator said Thursday it would take a closer look at the proposed €1.95 billion ($2.55 billion) purchase of California company Cymer Inc. by ASML Holding NV, which sells manufacturing equipment used in the semiconductor industry. 

The Japan Fair Trade Commission said in a statement that it had opened a secondary review of Netherlands-based ASML's proposed purchase of Cymer, a move that comes after the JFTC completed an initial look at the deal's possible impact on competition.
