Merck To Kick Off 2nd Round Of Fosamax Suits In NJ

By Greg Ryan (March 1, 2013, 7:39 PM EST) -- Merck & Co. Inc. is set to face trial later this month in New Jersey over claims that its bone drug Fosamax causes femur fractures, as it attempts to replicate the success it has found against claims the drug causes jaw injures.

Potential jurors in the case will fill out a questionnaire at an Atlantic County courthouse on Monday, with jury selection beginning in earnest on March 11. The suit is one of more than 2,000 cases against Merck over Fosamax-related femur injuries in New Jersey state court.
