AT&T Hit With FMLA Proposed Class Action

Law360, New York (December 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former AT&T Inc. employee has alleged in a proposed class action that the company violated the federal Family and Medical Leave Act by firing him after he requested time off to care for his ailing mother.

The lawsuit, filed by Christopher M. Souza on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern California, also names Pacific Bell Telephone Company Inc., SBC Communications Inc. and others.

Souza worked for the companies from Sept. 15, 1997, to Feb. 6, 2006.
