Amaranth Trader Fails To Stay $30M FERC Order

Law360, New York (December 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- As Amaranth Advisors LLC faces off with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in a federal appellate court this week, a parallel dispute between a former Amaranth trader and FERC also looks like it is headed there.

The trader's request to stay FERC's administrative action seeking $30 million in penalties was denied on Monday by Judge Richard J. Leon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The judge turned down Brian Hunter's motion for a preliminary injunction against FERC's order to show cause (OSC)....
