Texas PUC Likely Won't Take Up Energy Shortage Until Fall

Law360, Houston (March 7, 2013, 5:53 PM EST) -- The head of Texas' Public Utilities Commission said Thursday that the electricity regulator would most likely not decide until fall how to address looming shortages caused by increasing consumer demand and a lack of generation development.

PUC Chairman Donna L. Nelson told an audience at IHS Inc.’s annual CERAWeek energy conference in Houston that the commission would have enough information after this summer to decide “big questions” about how to boost Texas’ power reserves to avoid outages.
