Guess Licensee Wants Zurich To Pay $3.4M For Gucci IP Defense

Law360, New York (March 8, 2013, 1:48 PM EST) -- Signal Products Inc., a licensee of the Guess fashion brand, demanded Thursday that Zurich American Insurance Co. fork over more than $3.4 million in defense and indemnity costs after Guess lost an infringement battle with Gucci American Inc. over a particular G pattern and color scheme.

Two Zurich American subsidiaries, American Zurich Insurance Co. and American Guarantee & Liability Insurance Co., issued personal and advertising injury liability insurance policies to Signal, according to the complaint Signal filed in California federal court.
