Foreclosure Notices Must Comply With Law, Pa. Justices Told

Law360, Philadelphia (March 8, 2013, 4:41 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania woman urged the state's highest court Thursday to uphold a ruling stripping judges of jurisdiction over mortgage foreclosure actions when notifications provided to homeowners under state law fail to meet statutory guidelines.

Pamela Vukman, an Allegheny County woman whose home went into foreclosure in 2006, told the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that Act 91 — a state law dictating that foreclosure notices include information about opportunities for loan modifications and credit counseling — forbade courts from hearing foreclosure cases when notices provided to homeowners failed...
