Google Agrees To Pay $7M In Street View Privacy Probe

Law360, Los Angeles (March 8, 2013, 11:27 PM EST) -- Google Inc. has reportedly agreed to pay $7 million to resolve a massive investigation into the private information it collected from unsecured Wi-Fi networks for its mapping service.

The settlement, which will likely be announced within the next week, settles an investigation undertaken by more than 30 states into the information Google gathered through cars it deployed to capture images for its Street View mapping service, according to an Associated Press report Friday. 

A Google representative declined to comment on the settlement Friday.
