After Akamai, Fed. Circ. Revives Slot Machine Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 13, 2013, 7:50 PM EDT) -- In light of its recent Akamai ruling, the Federal Circuit on Wednesday revived Aristocrat Technologies Australia Pty Ltd.'s allegations of induced patent infringement against rival slot-machine maker International Gaming Technology.

In an August en banc decision that rejected old precedent, the appeals court held in Akamai v. Limelight that a party can be held liable for indirect infringement even if no single entity can be found liable for direct infringement.
